Golf Courses

The villa is situated on the Pinta Golf Course, 4th tee, with access to the adjoining Gramacho Golf Course and other nearby courses.

Pinta - 18 hole par 71

This is a well laid out and interesting course. Set in a truly Algarve landscape with almond, olive and carob trees decorating the course that rolls through small valleys and hills. Some of the olive trees are reputed to be in the region of 1,500 years old. The holes that deserve a special mention are the par-3 tenth and the par-5 thirteenth. The former has a large bunker defending the green against your shot, the latter, winds through a valley for 541 meters.

Gramacho - 18 hole par 72

This was originally a nine hole course which has been extended and cleverly redesigned to become a fully fledged 18 hole course. A formidable challenge to its designer! The course covers undulating terrain with olive, almond and carob trees planted years before by the local farmers. The course has been designed for the player to be technically accurate and to know which club to choose before hitting the ball - anything less will quickly increase his score!

Other Courses

Penina Championship - 18 hole par 73

The grandfather of courses in the Algarve and a permanent living memory to its architect and active promoter, Sir Henry Cotton. Originally paddy fields for rice growing have been converted into a flat and challenging course, especially for the stronger player. Half a million shrubs and trees were planted in the conversion. Its fairways are flat. Henry Cotton introduced strategically placed water hazards to catch the unwary long hitter.

There are number of other championship courses within easy driving distance. A substantial discount ticket on the fees for all the other quality courses of the Central Algarve including those at Villamoura, Vale da Lobo and Quinta da Lago is available.
